WWE News: Updated And Rumored Card For ‘Extreme Rules’ — Six Matches Confirmed, Weird Extreme Stipulations Added
After all that went down on WWE SmackDown on Thursday, two more matches have been announced and confirmed for Extreme Rules. The event takes place in one week and the new matches have been rumored, but now they are officially on the card and even have stipulations. There are still rumors flying about other matches, but also concerns on whether Daniel Bryan or Paige will even be there at all.
Six matches have officially been announced, but there are serious question marks on two of them.
The WWE Intercontinental Title match between champion Daniel Bryan and Bad News Barrett is up in the air after Bryan was sent home from the European tour this past week. Some were thinking it may have had to do with his arm or neck, but WrestleZone reports that it was due to a concussion.
Once WWE officials learned of his concussion, he was sent home. Now Bryan needs to pass a series of concussion tests to be cleared to return to the ring. If he doesn’t, that match may be in jeopardy, but WWE has said nothing yet.
This past week, Paige won a battle royal on Raw to get the title shot at Extreme Rules against Nikki Bella. After the battle royal, Paige was attacked by Naomi and doctors have not yet cleared her to compete, but she is also filming Santa’s Little Helper for WWE Studios.
It would have been simple to just have Naomi win the battle royal then, but Paige needed to be written off WWE TV too.
Sheamus and Dolph Ziggler have been going back and forth since the Celtic Warrior returned a few weeks ago. The “Kiss My Arse” match has been set up for the Pay-Per-View with the loser having to kiss the backside of the other.
Kind of a strange, and not very extreme, stipulation, but it is what it is.
The Big Show and Roman Reigns will hopefully end their ever-continuing feud in a Last Man Standing Match that may have the crowd completely turn on them both. These types of matches can sometimes drag on, and the longer the match goes, the more the crowd may end up coming down on it.
As of Saturday afternoon, there are six confirmed and announced matches for WWE Extreme Rules.
- WWE World Heavyweight Championship – Steel Cage Match with RKO Banned: Seth Rollins (c) vs. Randy Orton
- United States Championship – Russian Chain Match: John Cena (c) vs. Rusev
- Intercontinental Championship: Daniel Bryan (c) vs. Bad News Barrett
- WWE Divas Championship: Nikki Bella (c) vs. Paige
- Kiss Me Arse Match: Sheamus vs. Dolph Ziggler
- Last Man Standing Match: Roman Reigns vs. Big Show
Extreme Rules could end up getting at least one more match, and it may be for the Tag-Team Championship, or the card could just remain as it is. WWE is kind of in a limbo stage right now and needs to start preparing for the big summer feuds leading to SummerSlam. Now, Extreme Rules has six matches — with two question marks — and some extreme (and strange) stipulations in place.
