Priest Reacts To ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Trailer — And It’s Impossible Not To Smile [Video]

The Star Wars fandom is made up of people of varying age from many walks of life. Don’t believe me? Then check out the priceless reaction of a self-described “geek priest” to the new Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer. The man in the video is Father Roderick Vonhögen, a huge Star Wars fan.

A Catholic priest isn’t exactly someone that people often have in mind when they think of dedicated Star Wars fans; this perhaps makes Father Vonhögen’s reaction all the more poignant.

“I’m Father Roderick and I’m about to see the new trailer for Star Wars [Episode] VII. I can’t wait!”

The excited priest swiveled around to face the camera and computer screen so that the YouTube viewing audience would see his full reaction to watching the Star Wars trailer for the first time. The first thing Father Roderick noted was the newish music that kicked off the second teaser. Although he described the initial scene as on Tatooine, the upcoming desert scenes reportedly occur on Jakku, a new planet introduced in the next Star Wars film.

Like many fans, he was taken aback by the amazing use of a crashed Star Destroyer as a backdrop early on in the trailer.

“Holy Cow…Oh my gosh!”

It did take Father Roderick a few moments to realize who the narrator was. Understandable, as it’s been nearly three decades since anyone heard from Jedi Master Luke Skywalker. The “geek priest” asked a rather important question during the course of his reaction.

Just who Luke was talking to during a segment of the teaser?

Was he talking to anyone, or was it just a recycled quote with no significants? Much of the speculation surrounds the possibility he could be talking to his child or an offspring of Princess Leia and Han Solo. Many fans wonder if it means he will become a mentor, following in the steps of the deceased Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Speaking of Solo, the most adorable reactions in this clip center around the happy priest’s reactions to the sight of Millennium Falcon and the appearance Han Solo (with beloved side-kick and friend, Chewbacca).

“Oh my God! That is fantastic!

Following his honest and hilariously cute reaction to the Star Wars teaser, the awed priest did what many fans have done over the past few days: He decided to re-watch it immediately. That would no doubt explain why the Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer has jumped to over 29 million views within three days!

The “geek priest” has also started going viral! His reaction was featured on ABC News and his reaction video already has nearly 90,000 views! According to Father Roderick, even Star Wars director J.J. Abrams has seen his reaction video.
