The Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer is finally here. After what seems like an eternity, Disney is officially giving us a first glimpse at some very exciting footage.
As previously reported by the Inquisitr , director J.J. Abrams and Lucasfilm President and producer, Kathleen Kennedy, were the main VIPs at the Star Wars Celebration panel introducing the Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer.
Fans have been debating, discussing, and speculating for months, following the teaser released by Abrams on Thanksgiving weekend of last year. At that time we got a very tiny glimpse at the new characters Rey (Daisy Ridley), Finn (John Boyega), and Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac), who made their debut along with BB-8, the newest droid.
We also got to briefly see the Millennium Falcon and the Stormtroopers, as well as the new villain, Kylo Ren (we still don’t know who plays him). To say that the Star Wars: The Force Awakens is the most anticipated trailer of 2015 would be an understatement.
Fans are beyond curious to see what Disney — which took over for LucasFilm — and Abrams will do with the franchise moving forward. Many still remember the disappointment that the prequels were, even though creator George Lucas himself was involved. Let’s hope we are not disappointed.
The release of the Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer was significant in many ways. It was the first time ever that the event was live streamed for fans worldwide, the first time the global community was sharing the release on social media, and thanks to Twitter, the excitement was even more pronounced due to the cute emojis created for the occasion.

Fans waited and tweeted their excitement before Abrams and company arrived on stage at the Star Wars Celebration in Anaheim. J.J. Abrams was introduced to roaring applause and was overwhelmed that took a moment to take some video footage (like any good director would) with his cell. Kathleen Kennedy shared that she had to buy her own #StarWars tshirt.
Abrams and Kennedy spent some time talking about what the franchise meant to them moving on. Kennedy shared about the time George Lucas asked her to take the reins of the Star Wars franchise after his retirement. Some Abu Dhabi set photos were also shared by Abrams.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens newcomers Oscar Isaac (Poe Dameron), Daisy Ridley (Rey), and John Boyega (Finn) were introduced to a roaring ovation and answered fan questions. Abrams also shared some new photos of them in their costumes.
Later on, original Star Wars cast members Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia), Anthony Daniels (C3PO), and Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca) joined the rest on stage.
At the end of the Star Wars: The Force Awakens panel, J.J. Abrams introduced the spectacular new trailer. Here it is!
