There’s a few things that might not survive due to Giuliana Rancic’s criticism of Zendaya Coleman at the Academy Awards. One of those things might be E!’s Fashion Police , and another is her friendship with ex co-panelist Kelly Osbourne.
According to Us magazine , the two aren’t even on speaking terms after Osbourne failed to back Rancic when her joke became a topic of racism in America. Sources said that “Kelly is dead to Giuliana.” Ouch!
In case you need a refresher, Giuliana said Zendaya’s dreadlocks, “smells like patchouli oil, or maybe weed” during the special coverage after the Oscars. After the comments caused controversy, Osbourne let her feelings out in a series of tweets. In one of the tweets she threatened to quit Fashion Police if E! didn’t right their wrongs. It wasn’t a surprise once Kelly made good of her word and decided to exit the show despite Rancic’s apology.
After she left, Osbourne kept relatively quiet about her departure from E!’s Fashion Police . Back in March she gave her mother Sharon’s show The Talk the exclusive. At the time, Kelly said, “You know what, it was the five best working years of my life. I am so grateful for the experience. “Working with Joan Rivers for five years was incredible. I learned so much, and I’m excited for my future now. I want to try new things.”
After Rancic’s public apology, she went on a series of daytime talk shows to discuss the incident in an attempt to explain herself. Last week Rancic went on the Today show to discuss her book and her comments about Zendaya’s appearance.
“I made a reference to the hippie culture. In the editing process, some of the gestures I made, some of the things I said were taken out for time. So I made peace signs, I said bohemian twice. Those were taken out for time, so when the joke aired, some people were offended by it.”
She continued, “I find racism reprehensible. I don’t tolerate it at all. Nor have I ever. And I think that’s really important for me to get that out there, because that’s been the hardest part of this, that someone could believe that I actually would have racial undertones in the things I do.”
After her appearance on the Today show, Kelly took to Twitter to post a cryptic message, that some say was aimed at her former colleague. “Liars always get caught.”
A source close to the situation told Us magazine that the tweet, “was about Giuliana.”
