The next generation of tech is currently sitting on the showroom floor at the Las Vegas Convention Center. The 2013 International CES Convention set a new record when it opened its doors today to showcase more than 3,250 exhibitors and 20,000 products.

The World’s Largest Consumer Electronics Show covers more than 1.9 million square feet and features products from companies like Samsung, Nikon and LG.

Gary Shapiro, president and CEO of CEA, said:

“Some 20,000 new products will launch this week at the 2013 International CES and we couldn’t be more excited to kick off this record-breaking show. CES has an incredible story to tell with every major technology company spanning the globe participating in this year’s CES to showcase their innovations.”

Dr. Paul Jacobs, the chairman and CEO of Qualcomm, kicked the festivities off on Monday night with a pre-show keynote address. Jacobs was joined on stage by Microsoft President and CEO Steve Ballmer who showed off some new Microsoft products featuring Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 10 processor.

Ballmer’s surprise appearance was the highlight for convention techies but a few movie stars also stopped by. Guillermo Del Toro, Alice Eve and even Big Bird came by CES. NASCAR’s Brad Keselowski and Marc Jenkins were also in attendance and Adam Levine, as well as part of Maroon 5, ended the night with a show.

In addition to the celebrities, musicians and keynote speakers, CES attendees also got to see some great new tech from companies like LG, Livio and Monster.
