A lot of people are down on the Kansas City Chiefs draft, I am not one of them. With the fifth overall pick they might have gotten the best player in this draft. Some may say that they took them because of the value, but this team needed defensive playmakers and Eric Berry is certainly that. In the second round, they added a dynamic playmaker who may pose match up problems for their opponents. On top of that I am sick of hearing how they ignored their needs on the offensive line when they added one of the best guard prospects in this draft in the third round. Many draft pundits had Jon Asamoah as a high second round pick, and the Chiefs got him with the 68th pick overall.
In my mind the Chiefs had an outstanding draft. They get two potential playmakers in the secondary. Given the fact they were the 27th worst defense last year how can anyone argue with that. They started to shore up their offensive line with a nasty guy that they hope will be the model for the O line in the years to come, and they may have gotten a steal in TE Tony Moeaki. If he can stay healthy he will become a big part of the Chiefs’ offense.
Now let us look at their grades for this draft class:
•Need- A, they got potential defensive playmakers, and some O line help •Talent- A, the overall best player, and a highly rated guard, plus the other pieces, Awesome •Round One- A, Berry should provide an immediate impact •Round Two- A. Offensive Coordinator Charlie Weis will get Dexter McCluster involved all over the place •Average- A, Many may be done on it, but I think it was a great draft for this team
