The St. Louis Rams seemed to have done a heck of a job with their 2010 draft class. The proof of that is they picked first a year ago, and will pick 14th this year. They look to have landed a franchise QB, some protection for him and a few key offensive pieces. Not to bad, not to bad at all. This is a young team that is building back towards something great and if they keep on drafting this well they will be great sooner rather than later.
A quick look at the 2010 Rams draft class:
Round One (1)- QB Sam Bradford Oklahoma Round Two (33)- OT Rodger Saffold Indiana Round Three (65)- CB Jerome Murphy USF Round Four (99)- WR Mardy Gilyard Cincinnati Round Five (132)- TE Michael Hoomanawanui Illinois Round Five (149)- DE Hall Davis Louisiana Lafayette Round Six (170)- TE Fendi Onobun Houston Round Six (189)- DE Eugene Sims West Texas A&M Round Seven (211)- CB Marquis Johnson Alabama Round Seven (226)- DE George Selvie USF Round Seven (254)- LB Josh Hull Penn State
So in his rookie year Bradford there for 3,5000 yards and as long as Josh McDaniels doesn’t mess him up he should be a long term starter for this team. He should also be something special as it looks like this kid is the real deal. Next they looked to protect their investment in Bradford by taking Rodger Saffold and that seems to have been a wise choice. Jerome Murphy played in 14 games and had 30 tackles with one INT.
Now Mardy Gilyard may have been a miss so far, as he only got six passes. Hoomanawanui has done little, but a nice TE is a good piece to have for a young QB. The rest of the picks still need time to work themselves out, but all in all this appears to be a very fine class.
