I feel a little down on this class after year one. After the 2010 draft I thought the Miami Dolphins had done a pretty good job addressing their needs, but injuries and other things really limited the impact this draft class had on the team. At 7-9 in 2010 they feel like a team that is a few players away from a playoff run, but I think they do not have many building blocks in place. Hopefully this class rebounds a little in year two.
A quick look at the 2010 Dolphins draft class:
- Round One- DT Jared Odrick
- Round Two- LB Koa Misi
- Round Three- G John Jerry
- Round Four- LB AJ Edds
- Round Five- CB Nolan Carroll
- Round Five- FS Reshad Jones
- Round Seven- LB Chris McCoy
- Round Seven- LB Austin Spitler
So Odrick only played in one game after breaking his leg and then having an ankle issue. Misi did have 4.5 sacks, but still need to develop his pass rushing skills. Jerry only played in four games and confirms a reach by the team. Edds suffered an ACL injury that robbed him of his rookie year. Carroll had a pick and averaged 24.3 yards per kickoff return. Jones had 21 tackles and a pick, but was unable to challenge for the starting job. McCoy was a practice squad player for several teams. Spitler spent some time on the practice team but got promoted and made four tackles.
So we see not one big time starter so far, but with the injuries we have to give them a year one pass. This team needs something from this class, other wise they could be facing a long rebuild project.
