Florida ‘Gang Rape’: Panama City Beach Spring Breakers Watched Sexual Assault On The Beach, Sought By Police

A Panama City, Fla. “gang rape” has prompted police officers to searching for the identities of “hundreds” of spring breakers who watched an unconscious woman was sexually assaulted on the beach – and did nothing. A video released by the local sheriff’s office shows a passed out 19-year-old girl being gang raped by a group of young men as other college students simply walk on by about 10 feet away at the Spinnaker Beach Club. Bay County law believe witnesses could have additional videos and information relating to the attack.

Panama City law enforcement officers discovered the gang rape video while searching for two suspects in the spring break sexual assault. The rape of the 19-year-0ld girl occurred in late March. The Bay County sheriff’s deputies have arrested two Troy University students so far in spring break rape case. Troy University is in Alabama.

Bay County Sheriff Frank McKeithen deemed the graphic gang rape video the “most disgusting, sickening thing” he had ever seen. Sheriff McKeithen likened the sexual assault scene to “wild animals preying on a carcass laying in the woods.” At least three young men surrounded the unconscious 19-year-old woman as she sat seemingly passed out in a chair on Panama City Beach.

Troy University students Delonte’ Martistee, 22, and Ryan Austin Calhooun, 23, were suspended from the Alabama college after being arrested on the Panama City Beach spring break gang rape charges. Police officers in Troy found the gang rape video while investigating a shooting. Delonte’ Martistee was a “track star” from Bainbridge, Georgia.

Two more suspects are currently being sought in connection with the spring break rape of the unconscious 19-year-old girl. More arrests in the Panama City Beach sexual assault are expected soon, according to police statements.

The Panama City gang rape video also reportedly shows fellow spring breakers “almost rubbing” the unconscious 19-year-old victim. “[People were] standing there, more concerned about spilling their beer than they did someone being raped. [One man in the video said] ‘she isn’t going to know,’ before putting his hand inside her bikini bottoms,” the Bay County Sheriff added. To date, the deputies have found more than four more videos of the beach rape and feel there are likely more recordings of the sexual assault floating account, Sheriff McKeithen said.

At some point in the Panama City gang rape video some people are heard cheering, but the reason for the chants remain unknown. Sheriff McKeithen said that the crowd scene at the Panama City Beach appears peaceful and normal, with college students enjoying spring break and talking about Instagram, until the sexual attack suddenly occurs.

Bay County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Ruth Corley said clips from the gang rape video was released to the public “to show the crowd that was surrounding the incident and to show people, not only was it a horrible event, but it was witnessed by so many people who did absolutely nothing to stop or call police.” The 19-year-old sexual assault victim told deputies that she believes she had been drugged before the rape, but was afraid to report the incident because she could not recall many details. “She knows something happened, but she doesn’t know what happened,” Sheriff McKeithen added.

Panama City Beach law enforcement officers are continuing to work with police in the Troy University area to arrest the other suspects in the gang rape.
