Apple on Saturday witnessed the 25th billion app download via the Apple App Store.
News of the download milestone comes just several days after the company placed a countdown program on its website that counted the number of downloads achieved in real-time.
While the company has not yet announced what app was downloaded for it’s 25th billion milestone or who downloaded the application that person will receive a $10,000 gift card to spend on iTunes products of their choice.
The 25 billion apps mark comes just three years after Apple announced its 1 billionth download and just slightly less then four years after Apple launched the Apple App Store for iTunes.
The 25 billion app downloads arrived from sales on more than 300 million combined iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch devices.
In the meantime Apple is expected to announced the iPad 3 which will likely accelerate the company’s iOS app downloads.
