Ansel Elgort Explains MTV Movie Awards Absence In A Tweet
Actor Ansel Elgort did not make it to the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday night.
Nominated for five different categories, most of his fans and critics expected Ansel to show up.
In comparison to many other actors, Ansel Elgort had a very solid year in Hollywood last year. The 21-year-old actor had breakthrough roles in both The Fault in Our Stars, as well as Divergent in the same year. To add the icing to the cake, both movies placed him alongside fellow MTV Movie Awards nominee Shailene Woodley as a co-star.
Therefore, it’s not surprising why so many people expected Ansel Elgort to show up on Sunday night for the MTV Movie Awards.
Chances are that Elgort knew that his absence would disappoint a lot of people, because the actor posted a tweet on Sunday night that explained everything.
Watching the MTV movie awards from providence because I’m filming tomorrow at 6am. Wish I could be there ? Rooting for u shai!! #tfios

Perhaps Ansel Elgort is getting ready to start filming November Criminals. Multiple reports confirm that he will star alongside If I Stay actress Chloë Grace Moretz in the big-screen young adult adaptation. Even though Elgort will not be present at the MTV Movie Awards, the odds of him winning at least one award from his list of five nominations for The Fault in Our Stars are very high. He’s nominated in the following categories.
- Best Male Performance
- Breakthrough Performance
- Best Shirtless Performance
- Best Duo
- Best Kiss
Ansel Elgort made his film debut back in 2013 alongside his November Criminals co-star, Chloë Grace Moretz, in the Carrie remake. He had a very small role in comparison to Chloe and Oscar-winning actress Julianne Moore.
@AnselElgort I saw Carrie the other day and it freaked me out. good job.

However, with his breakthrough roles in 2014 — including a leading role in a book series-turned-movie franchise — Ansel was able to make his mark in the movie industry. Currently, Ansel can be seen on the big-screen in Insurgent— the second installment of the blockbuster Divergent series.

With his growing fan base and versatile acting range, Ansel Elgort will more than likely be able to build a successful movie career in the years to come. Even though he was not able to make it to this year’s MTV Movie Awards, at least he can rest assured in knowing that there is always next year.
