Kristen Taekman And Heather Thomson: ‘RHONY’ Is Better Without Fame-Hungry Aviva Drescher
Kristen Taekman and Heather Thomson are glad that Aviva Drescher is gone from The Real Housewives of New York City. In a video interview with Wetpaint Entertainment, posted on Thursday morning, Kristen and Heather said that the show is better off without Aviva on it.
When asked if Aviva’s departure from the show affected the dynamic of the cast, Heather was quick to say that the cast dynamic changed for the better. Heather, who once yelled at Aviva that she’s a “motherf**ker,” said that how Aviva behaved during her two seasons on the show still angers her.
“Yes. Immediately…It was better. It was the right change for the show…Yeah, it was the right change for the show…You didn’t know what was gonna come out of Aviva’s mouth and more times than not, it wasn’t even honest. I was really upset. It still to this day, Aviva’s like one of those things in life I wish was different.”
Kristen agreed that Aviva’s departure meant less tension among the group.
“It was more comfortable. We were more relaxed…We weren’t walking around on eggshells anymore.”
Heather then implied that Aviva, who took off and slammed her prosthetic leg on a restaurant table on the season 6 finale, wasn’t her real self on the show, but did and said things in order to be famous and stay on the cast, which ultimately backfired.
“Honesty. Being honest you know? You have to be honest and I just think she, unfortunately, wanted fame so badly that it was at any cost. And that’s sometimes the wrong way to go about things.”
When asked what they thought of Aviva Drescher later going on Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars, Kristen Taekman and Heather Thomson pointed out that Aviva always told them that her marriage to Reid Drescher was great. Heather, with Kristen in agreement, speculated that Aviva went on that show because she wasn’t coming back to The Real Housewives of New York City and she wanted to still be on television. The two added that neither of them, nor Carole Radziwill, have had any contact with Aviva since she left the show.
As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Carole, whom Aviva accused of not writing her books, recently said that she thinks that viewers are “relieved” Aviva’s gone and that it’s better for Aviva to not be on TV. Carole also hinted that she signed on for another season when she was told Aviva was gone.
“I think the audience is relieved. I think it’s probably best for [Aviva] not to be on television. She doesn’t do herself any favors. I’m sure in her real life, off camera, she’s doing well.”
In October, 2014, executive producer Andy Cohen admitted in an Ask Andy segment that viewers didn’t like Aviva Drescher.
“I think that that was a situation where we listened to the fans,” he said of Aviva’s departure.
