Bruce Jenner’s interview with Diane Sawyer will air on April 24, where he will discuss his transition into womanhood, and the effect it has had not only on himself and his mental state throughout his journey, but also how it has affected his family. Many of them have remained silent on the subject.
Kris Jenner ‘s sister, Karen Houghton, however, told Radar Online that Bruce’s transition, including his recent decision to get breast implants, has been humiliating for her sister, and that it’s been hard for Bruce and Kris’ teen daughters, Kylie and Kendall.
“For Kris, it’s just extremely humiliating that Bruce is doing this, and she is taking it very personally. As with anyone, it has embarrassed my sister. It’s been humiliating for her. I told Kendall and Kylie, ‘I love your dad, I will always love him. I don’t care what he is or does’. I know this is hard on them.”
The two-hour special with Diane Sawyer will be Bruce Jenner’s metaphoric goodbye to his past and his male persona. He will answer all those hard-hitting questions everyone has been waiting for — like will Bruce keep his manhood?
Spoiler alert: Sources say he will — for now at least.
While the rest of the family is still tight-lipped on the subject, Bruce’s sister-in-law has no problem discussing his transition, telling Radar that although Kris Jenner is allegedly “embarrassed” by the whole thing, Karen told Bruce that she will always love him, no matter who he is.
“I told him ‘I love you no matter what — if you’re blue, white, transgender, gay. I don’t judge people. I told him ‘It doesn’t matter. It’s what’s in your heart.’ I just said, ‘It doesn’t matter to me. You helped raise my daughter. He helped [my daughter] build toys on Christmas. I love him as a man or a woman. I don’t really care. There is nothing I can say that’s bad about him. All he did was make my life better for me and my kids. Everyone is rooting for him.”
Houghton also said she never had any idea that brother-in-law Bruce was transgendered, even after having been married to her sister for 23 years.
“I never had any idea,” she said, “I think he wanted to keep it private.”
When asked if she would be tuning into to watch Jenner’s interview, she confessed that yes, she absolutely would be.
“Oh, are you kidding! Yes! I’d like to see it. I was shocked at the age though… I couldn’t do something like that. I really admire him for being brave and doing what he wanted to do. And now he’s doing it.”
