When it comes to celebrity weight loss success stories in 2015, actress Melissa McCarthy, TV personality Kim Zolciak, magician Penn Jillette, and singer Sam Smith are winning the battle of the bulge. But they chose very different approaches to shedding pounds. For Melissa, who has now lost a total of 45 pounds, a high-protein, low-carb diet provided the solution, reported Shape.
Although she still doesn’t fit the size zero fashion role model that the entertainment industry has established, Melissa decided to shed the pounds with a goal of being healthy rather than thin, said a source. She has children and wants to live longer and enjoy her time with them.
In addition to dieting, McCarthy has been partaking in exercise-related activities with her daughters, reported the Daily Mail.
Joined by her husband, Ben Falcone, Melissa enjoyed a bowling alley birthday party with little 7-year-old Georgette and 4-year-old Vivian. The quartet also headed out for a walk.
But while that high-protein, low-carb diet works for Melissa, Sam Smith is emphasizing a combination of low-carb dieting with a dairy-free diet, reported the Daily Mail.
Smith credited nutritionist Amelia Freer with helping him lose so much weight.

Known for her role in Don’t Be Tardy, as well as the celebrity wife to NFL player Kroy Biermann, Kim flaunted her bikini body in photos.
“Trying on bikinis for my vaca with hubby. Thankful for @310nutrition for keeping me in check! The shakes really help me!”
In addition, magician Penn Jillette shed 105 pounds, as the Inquisitr reported. He chose an extremely low-calorie diet for his weight-loss phase, then shifted to a plant-based diet that emphasizes leafy greens and fruit. Penn revealed that he had a weight loss wake-up call when his physician hospitalized him after his blood pressure soared to dangerously high levels.
