WWE News: Did Brock Lesnar Know He’d Lose The Title At ‘WrestleMania’ Upon Signing A New Deal? Locker Room Not Happy
Less than a week after Brock Lesnar re-signed with WWE, he went into the main event at WrestleMania 31 and absolutely decimated Roman Reigns before losing the WWE World Heavyweight Title to Seth Rollins. Did Lesnar have any idea he was going to lose the title at WrestleMania, or did that come as a complete surprise to him?
According to WrestleZone, Lesnar was fully aware that he would be dropping the WWE Title when he signed his new deal with the company. He was not shocked or made unaware of the plans by WWE until after he put his name down on the dotted line.
Since Lesnar and Reigns were working the match together, with Paul Heyman in tow, this made it seem as if Reigns would be winning the title. Obviously that didn’t happen, but it seems as if the knowledge of Rollins winning the title didn’t happen until after WrestleMania 31 had already begun.
That being said, it appears as if there was no prior knowledge that Roman Reigns wouldn’t be walking out as the new champion.
Wrestling Inc. reported that a lot of talent in WWE has been rather defensive when it comes to Roman Reigns and how the fans have treated him. They believe their loud voices and how they turned against him caused the plans of Reigns winning the title to change.
Roman Reigns is said to be very well liked in the WWE locker room and many aren’t happy with the decision to change the result. They feel that Reigns not winning the title came at no fault of his own, but due to fan reaction.
Some within WWE fear the results of WrestleMania 31, as the company spent months and months building up Reigns but then had plans change in an instant. Some fear that this may make WWE think twice about doing that sort of thing again.
Not telling Brock Lesnar that he would drop the title before re-signing could have made for a strained relationship, so he did know before the new deal. That isn’t a problem here, as Lesnar was fine with everything.
Reigns being absolutely destroyed by Lesnar after just finding out earlier in the day that he wouldn’t win the title is what has bothered so many people.
Brock Lesnar may have known he would drop the title ahead of time, but the news of Seth Rollins winning it, not Roman Reigns, was news to everyone at WrestleMania 31. Now, Rollins moves on, Lesnar gets a break, and Reigns continues to be booed by the crowds.
