‘Criminal Minds’ Spoilers: ‘Beyond Borders’ Brings On Gary Sinise, Anna Gunn In Spin-Off Set-Up
A big episode of Criminal Minds airs Wednesday and fans won’t want to miss it. There’s a show spin-off potentially ahead and the April 8 show sets the stage for it. What Criminal Minds spoilers are available for this one?
Wednesday’s show is titled “Beyond Borders.” As TV Guide notes, the Behavioral Analysis Unit team is asked to assist the international team when a family is kidnapped during a vacation in Barbados. This international team is where the Criminal Minds spin-off comes into play.
Apparently the BAU is asked to work on this case with the international team because the Barbados case is seemingly linked to a previous BAU case that they worked on in Florida two years ago. That suspect was never caught, and the case continues to haunt Jack.
Though a full order for the Criminal Minds spin-off hasn’t been ordered by CBS yet, the stage is being set in “Beyond Borders.” There’s an all-star cast in this one and fans are already anxious for more.
Gary Sinise, previously of CSI: NY, will play Jack Garrett, the lead of the international BAU team. Breaking Bad star Anna Gunn is on the team as well, playing the role of linguist and international law expert Lily Lambert.
TV Guide notes that the team also includes Daniel Henney, who some may recognize as the voice of Tadashi from Big Hero 6 or from his small roles in Revolution, Hawaii Five-0 or Three Rivers. Henney plays special operations agent Matthew Simmons. Finally there is Tyler James Williams, who plays tech specialist Russ “Monty” Montgomery. Williams starred as Chris in Everybody Hates Chris and also played Noah on The Walking Dead.
Sinise and others from the show lay the groundwork for the Criminal Minds spin-off via TVLine. The teams are already friendly and familiar with one another, and this Barbados case is an opportunity for them to come together and tackle a common enemy.
When will curious fans know if the Criminal Minds spin-off is a go? It seems that news will come at some point in May. The network will surely be gauging the buzz, and ratings from this April 8 episode to see if it makes sense to move forward with a full order. The original series itself has yet to be renewed for Season 11, and much of the cast is up for contract negotiations before another season can come together.
Will viewers be compelled by Wednesday’s episode to clamor for a full season of Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders? Everybody will have to tune in to the April 8 show and see just how it all comes together, then stay tuned for news on both a renewal for the original show and a full-season pick-up for the spin-off from CBS.
