As Tom Cruise And Katie Holmes Feud, Is Suri Getting Caught In The Crossfire?
Recent rumors have revealed a battle between Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes that has grown fierce enough that the couple has stopped speaking directly to one another, opting instead to communicate through intermediaries, and now assertions are arising from sources close to Ms. Holmes that Mr. Cruise hasn’t seen Suri Cruise in over a year. In spite of statements made by Tom himself that he was looking forward to spending more time with daughter Suri Cruise, since filming on Mission Impossible 5 wrapped up, Mr. Cruise has yet to visit his daughter, reports Hollywood Life.
“He’s busy,” one might say and for the most part that has been true, but Tom Cruise just enjoyed a two-week break between finishing his Mission Impossible film and beginning a new 90-day shoot in Atlanta. Even more likely to raise eyebrows is the fact that Mr. Cruise did make time to spend with his son, during that two-week break. Tom and son Connor Cruise were seen on April 5, attending the NCAA Women’s Final Four semifinal basketball game in Florida.
Representatives for Tom Cruise claim that the allegations coming from Katie Holmes’ sources are completely untrue. The reps state that Tom has been spending plenty of time with Suri, away from the cameras and prying eyes of Hollywood.
The feud between Holmes and Cruise seems to run even deeper than it at first seems, with hints of outside influences that make headlines sound like something out of a horror film. Sources report that Katie has been wary of Tom’s Scientology involvement ever since their marriage ended and that Holmes has been careful to limit Suri’s exposure to Cruise’s beliefs.
Now there are rumors that the Church of Scientology is primarily to blame for this latest feud, and that Tom’s church has labeled Katie and Suri as SP’s (Suppressive Persons) and has restricted Mr. Cruise’s ability to associate with them.
In the recent documentary Going Clear, directed by Alex Gibney and based on Lawrence Wright’s book, Tom was spotlighted as one of the organization’s most prominent members. The documentary interviewed former members of Scientology, many of whom stated that church officials employed tactics of physical and mental abuse, including various forms of blackmail, to ensure the obedience of its members.
The Church of Scientology was quick to respond with a rebuttal statement of their own.
“In two hours this film racks up more falsehoods, errors, embellished tales and blatant omissions than were committed by Rolling Stone, Brian Williams, and Bill O’Reilly combined. By our calculation, the film on average includes at least one major error every two minutes.”
It is unknown whether the Church of Scientology is to blame or whether Tom’s reluctance to spend time with Suri has more to do with the feud he and Katie Holmes are embroiled in, simply because Mr. Cruise has yet to reply to requests for comments. One thing is for sure, if things don’t change soon, Tom Cruise and Suri Cruise may not spend another Christmas together in the near future.
