Michael Trevino Leaving ‘Vampire Diaries’: Actor Quits Show After Nina Dobrev Announces Departure
Fans of The Vampire Diaries will also have to say goodbye today to Michael Trevino. The 30-year-old actor is leaving the popular CW series, according to People Magazine. This comes on the heels of the news that Vampire Diaries star Nina Dobrev is leaving the show after playing the roles of Elena Gilbert and Katherine Pierce for almost seven seasons. Now it looks like the hit fantasy show will lose another beloved character.
Trevino plays Tyler Lockwood who is known as the hottest werewolf in Mystic Falls. Julie Plec confirmed Trevino’s departure on Monday in a statement to People. The Executive Producer said the actor would be missed greatly by the cast. The Vampire Diaries cast is unsurprisingly close with one another, as noticed during their trip to the lake over the weekend.
“Michael [Trevino] has been a beloved member of the Vampire Diaries family since day one. Even though he’s also going to be out in the world exploring new opportunities, we look forward to finding creative ways to make sure he and his character Tyler Lockwood always remain a part of the show.”

Dobrev, 26, also announced that she will be leaving The Vampire Diaries after she wraps up season seven of the series. The actress took to Instagram to confirm her departure along with a photo of herself hugging Plec.
Nina wrote about the TVD cast party, “I want to be the first to tell you that it wasn’t just a holiday celebration, it was a goodbye party. News of Michael Trevino and Nina Dobrev leaving the Vampire Diaries have shaken up fans on social media. Nina’s name was trending all day on the social networking site. Rumors were also swirling that both stars were leaving TVD since cast mates have shared several photos of their lake getaway. Fans were wondering if the trip meant that Vampire Diaries was coming to an end. That’s when Dobrev later confirmed her departure from the show.
Julie Plec even released an emotional statement about Dobrev’s exist from The Vampire Diaries.

No matter what happens on TVD, it’s still bittersweet for fans to learn about Michael and Nina leaving the series.
