Kylie Jenner Blackface Photo: Social Media Torn On Whether Kylie Used ‘Blackface’ or ‘Alien Face’
Kylie Jenner has been accused of using blackface in her new photo shoot. The 17-year-old posted a new series of photos on Instagram that lit up social media on Saturday night. No, the photos weren’t provocative or sexy in nature. Kylie’s new set of photos showed the teen sporting a new look. It also caused her name to trend on social media, as people were conflicted on whether she was using blackface or “alien face” in the photos. Even Zendaya Coleman was confused as to what kind of look Kylie was going for in the photos.
Jenner posted a photo of herself wearing silver sparkly metallic bronzer, which was shot under a black light. She thanked Marcelo Cantu for his controversial styling. Jenner captioned the photo: “What I wish I looked like all the time.”
Some fans of Jenner wondered if she meant she wanted to look like a black person all the time. The reality star has already been accused of appropriating black culture by wearing dreadlocks, having the appearance of larger lips, and displaying a noticeably bigger backside.
It didn’t take long for Instagram and Twitter followers to attack Kylie. Some of the users accused her of using blackface in the photo shoot.
“She is darkening her skin and said she wanted to look like this all the time. I don’t know about you but I don’t think she’d want to look like a glittery person all the time.”
“She is mocking me. In this picture she has big lips dark skin with glitter OVER it so the blackface wasnt too noticeable and her nose looks plump and wide, her eyes have been done to look bigger and her cheek bones done to look high. If it’s just makeup then it would be her more pale skin color with glitter on it not this. This picture looks like a black girl with a red undertone with glitter over her in a dark room. So sad that people are up her ass defending her. She doesnt give a f*ck about you or the people who’s culture she’s spitting on.”
“Even if this isn’t blackface, she still has appropriated black culture.”
But there are some people on social media who thinks that Kylie Jenner is just using “alien face” in her new photos.
“This is NOT blackface. She’s doing a metallic alien motif, people need to calm the hell down.”
“Ok anyone who thinks @KylieJenner was trying to do ‘black face’ is an idiot. Dude that girl looked like a sparkly alien. She was just having fun.”
“Kylie Jenner was not doing blackface. Her face was obviously not black. She was probably going for a grey alien aesthetic type.”
Some even compared Kylie Jenner’s controversial blackface photo shoot to Katy Perry’s “E.T.” music video. Some fans (and haters) of the reality star believe that she was going for an intergalactic look.
“I don’t even really care for Kylie Jenner but that picture is beautiful! Katy Perry did it in the E.T. video so what’s the problem?!”
“How come everyone’s getting mad at Kylie Jenner because she wants to look like Katy Perry in the E.T. video???
As the Inquisitr previously reported, Kylie responded to the controversial blackface photo shoot in a series of tweets.
She also added two more photos from her new photo shoot, in which she captioned “Goodnight” with both heart and alien emojis. Maybe Jenner’s new photos are just an overreaction on social media’s part.
“This is a black light and neon lights people let’s all calm down @marcelocantuphoto @joycebonelli @chrisdylanhair @hubblestudio.”
