Robert Pattinson and FKA Twigs are engaged! It’s no shocker, seeing how the two British stars are always together and practically glowing when around each other. Ordinarily, people are happy when other people are happy, and true fans of both Robert Pattinson and FKA Twigs would be glad to see both people emotionally secure in a loving relationship. After all, being a fan of someone’s acting or music is wholly separate from their personal lives. That’s an area that simply isn’t the concern of total strangers.
We first learned of the engagement thanks to T-Pain . The rapper tried to pass the information off as an April Fools’ Day joke. However, People magazine did some digging and found out that 28-year-old Robert and 27-year-old FKA are definitely moving towards marriage.
So apparently Robert Pattinson and FKA Twigs ARE actually engaged? No April Foolin’ round here http://t.co/Fbx1Vk7HU7 pic.twitter.com/YcSRJbPnyN

A source close to the happy couple told People that their engagement was no joke.
“He wants to marry her. They are inseparable when they are together. They live at his house.”
While congratulations have poured in, more than a few Bitter Betties have taken to the internet to let their dissatisfaction be known.
Why is the fact that Robert Pattinson is marrying his girlfriend FKA Twigs so upsetting to certain people? Well, there are a few reasons. The most obvious is of course jealousy. It doesn’t help that Robert Pattinson will forever be known as Edward Cullen, the romantic vampire character from the popular Twilight series. Fans of the series were thrilled when Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, who co-starred as Isabella Swan, engaged in a real-life romance.
That dream pairing came to a screeching halt when Stewart was exposed as having an illicit affair with Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders. The news reportedly devastated Robert and the two eventually broke up.
It seems that some fangirls who are obsessed with the actor and his vampiric alter-ego cannot stand the possibility that “Edward” would marry someone other than “Bella”… or themselves. Often, fans like this are so wrapped up in their fantasy perceptions of actors and characters that they take the news of these people marrying with a healthy dose of bitterness.

Leave @FKAtwigs alone! Accept that she’s brilliant and it just so happens that #RobertPattinson is deeply in love with her. #Racism is ugly.

If the delusion weren’t enough to cope with (or laugh at), there’s also the thinly and not-so-thinly veiled racism that has been hurled at FKA Twigs ever since their relationship became public. Some white fans cannot fathom why Pattinson would be attracted to a woman who wasn’t white like themselves or Kristen Stewart. They use derogatory and ugly words for Twigs as if this behavior would ever make them attractive to her future husband.
Twigs herself spoke out about the racism and hatred she’s endured over the past several months.
“I am genuinely shocked and disgusted at the amount of racism that has been infecting my account the past week. Racism is unacceptable in the real world, and it’s unacceptable online.”
Whether it’s being too wrapped up in a character or too wrapped up in the lie of white supremacy, some people just really, really need to get lives of their own. Robert Pattinson and FKA Twigs are clearly in love, and no amount of hateful commentary by people completely unconnected to the pair is going to change that.
