First Look At ‘Ash Vs Evil Dead’ [Video]

For months, horror fans have been scouring the internet for all they could learn about Ash Vs Evil Dead, the television revival of the original Evil Dead films and now STARZ has released a teaser featuring a motion graphic for the horror series. The teaser was released online today in advance of the official television premiere of the Ash Vs Evil Dead teaser, scheduled to air on Saturday, April 4 at 9 p.m. ET/PT, during Outlander.

STARZ picked up the Ash Vs Evil Dead television adaptation late in 2014, when negotiations established that both Bruce Campbell and Sam Raimi were committed to returning to the project.

Ash Vs Evil Dead will film in New Zealand and will star the original Evil Dead star, Bruce Campbell. In the original films (The Evil Dead, 1981; Evil Dead II, 1987; and Army of Darkness, 1992), Campbell played a stock boy-turned-hero Ashley ‘Ash’ J. Williams, and Mr. Campbell will be reprising an updated version of that character for Ash Vs Evil Dead, portraying Ash as a somewhat broken man, someone who has spent three decades “avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead.”

In Ash Vs Evil Dead, an ensuing Deadite plague forces Ash to face all manner of demons, both spiritual and physical, as he finds himself called into action once again.

Ash Vs Evil Dead will also star Lucy Lawless, reuniting the former Xena: Warrior Princess co-stars. Ms. Lawless will play a woman named Ruby and, believing Ash to be responsible for the Deadite outbreaks, she may prove to be more foe than friend.

Also joining the cast are Jill Marie Jones (Sleepy Hollow) as Amanda Fisher, Ray Santiago (Touch, Meet the Fockers) as Pablo Simon Bolivar, and Dana DeLorenzo (A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas) as Kelly Maxwell.

Behind the camera, Ash Vs Evil Dead sees the return of the original producer, director, and writer of The Evil Dead (1981), Sam Raimi, which has delighted fans as much as the return of Bruce Campbell.

In addition to serving as executive producer, Mr. Raimi will direct Ash Vs Evil Dead‘s first episode, which he also co-wrote with Ivan Raimi (Darkman, Army of Darkness, Drag Me to Hell), Craig DiGregorio (Workaholics, Chuck) and Tom Spezialy (Chuck, Reaper, Desperate Housewives).

Ash Vs Evil Dead is set to premiere on STARZ later this year with a 10 episode first season. Specific dates and times will be announced later, as details are confirmed.
