Giuliana Rancic On Death Threats: People Sent Pictures Saying ‘I’m Going To Kill Your Family’
Giuliana Rancic has been keeping a low profile when it comes to the drama surrounding Fashion Police. Earlier this year, Rancic made a comment that shocked many viewers. Giuliana made what she thought was a funny comment about Zendaya’s dreadlocks. While Zendaya wanted to show how dreads could be beautiful for the red carpet, Rancic made the comment that she probably smelled like “patchouli oil and weed.”
Giuliana Rancic may not have meant any harm with the comment, but within hours, Giuliana was labeled as a racist, ignorant, and downright rude. Even the actress spoke out via Twitter, calling Rancic’s comment “ignorant slurs.” While Giuliana quickly issued an apology for her comment on Fashion Police, the drama surrounding the comment has continued.
According to a new People report, Giuliana Rancic is now revealing that people were furious over her comment even though she apologized. Giuliana revealed that she was getting death threats and people were threatening to kill her entire family.
“I started very quickly getting death threats,” Rancic revealed, adding, “People were sending me pictures of the barrel of a gun saying, ‘I’m going to kill your family.’ It was awful.”
Giuliana Rancic is now blaming editing. Rancic explains that she was making peace signs and mentioned the word “boho” a few times, but that she was given the joke by a writer. It wasn’t something that Rancic had come up with herself, which many people thought she did. Maybe Giuliana Rancic is trying to remove some of the blame, but it isn’t necessarily working.
“On set, I made peace signs and I said boho twice,” Giuliana Rancic reveals about the comment, saying that she did not write the joke. “It was edited. And my words were taken out of context. If I thought this joke could be interpreted another way, I never would have done it. I felt horrible.”
But the consequences went much further. Shortly after the Giuliana Rancic drama went viral, Kelly Osbourne and Kathy Griffin resigned from Fashion Police. They didn’t want to be associated with Rancic after her making such a comment. According to the Inquisitr, there may be a rift between Giuliana and the departed stars due to the comment.
Ever since the comment was made back in February, Rancic has been slammed in the press over her weight. She claims that it is due to her cancer medication, but one can imagine that she was a bit stressed after the death threats and negative backlash.
