WWE News: Main Event Of Extreme Rules Revealed, Is Seth Rollins Defending His WWE Title?
On the last edition of WWE Raw, Randy Orton and Seth Rollins headlined the show. Orton had to get two other WWE superstars to take on Rollins, Kane, and the Big Show in the main event. After Ryback and Roman Reigns were named as the “surprise” tag team partners, the focus was back on the San Jose crowd and both headliners: the WWE champion and Orton.
While the match wasn’t the greatest way to end WWE Raw, it helped tease a future matchup between Randy Orton and Seth Rollins. Apparently, the WWE officials were leading to something that would be announced on WWE Smackdown the next night.
According to E-Wrestling News, the main event for WWE Extreme Rules is now revealed and includes the WWE champion and the Apex Predator.
“WWE revealed the main event for this year’s Extreme Rules pay-per-view at the SmackDown TV tapings on Tuesday.
“Headlining this year’s Extreme Rules show will be Seth Rollins vs. Randy Orton for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.”
Rollins and Orton are both white hot right now, mainly because of what they were able to do at WrestleMania this past Sunday. During their match at the show, Orton and Rollins created a WrestleMania moment that will live on WWE highlights for years to come.

It is being considered one of the best “RKOs” in WWE history. Both Rollins and Orton had to execute it perfectly for it to work at WrestleMania. Their match was very good, as they executed the spots to perfection. With that said, there’s little doubt that Orton will be in the main event picture for a long period of time.
In an earlier report by the Inquisitr, Seth Rollins and Brock Lesnar is rumored to be headlining SummerSlam in August. That clearly means that Orton won’t remain in the WWE championship hunt past July. A returning Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman will take center stage once again and challenge Seth Rollins for the WWE World Heavyweight championship.
For the first time since Daniel Bryan and John Cena, the WWE title will be regularly viewed on WWE television on a weekly basis. Lesnar’s WWE title reign helped bring prestige back to the WWE championship, which some viewed as a revelation. By not having it on the show, the WWE title became a special commodity, just like Lesnar himself.
Seth Rollins was chosen to represent the WWE as their flag-bearer, which proves how much faith the WWE officials have in him. Rollins proved to the WWE Universe why he is the future of the company. There will be numerous feuds with Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns, and multiple NXT stars down the road. After Randy Orton, the new blood will fight for the WWE championship and it will mark a new era in WWE.
