NYPD Arrested Latisha Fisher, 35, After Locking Herself In Restaurant Bathroom To Allegedly Kill 20-Month-Old Son
Latisha Fisher, 35, of Manhattan, New York was arrested Monday afternoon on suspicion of murder after police discovered her 20-month-old son unconscious in a restaurants’ bathroom with foam oozing out of his mouth.
According to Daily News, Fisher entered a Manhattan restaurant Monday afternoon – 5 Boro Burger on Sixth Ave. at 36th St. – and locked herself in the bathroom with her son, Gavriel Ortiz-Fisher. When a long line began to form near the restaurants’ bathroom, employees headed over to see what the problem was.
When Fisher wouldn’t open the door, 5 Boro Burger employees forced themselves into the restroom catching Fisher with her hand over her son’s mouth. Gavriel was unconscious as he lay on his mother’s lap with foam oozing from his mouth.

Fisher immediately responded with “I put my hand over his mouth to put him to sleep.”
The staff made attempts to perform CPR on the child, but Fisher wouldn’t allow it.
When paramedics arrived at the scene, they rushed Gavriel to the hospital, where he later died. The exact cause of death has yet to be determined.
Fisher was arrested at the scene.
“The mother was coming out in handcuffs,” witness Marcus Comeau said. “She didn’t seem too distressed, kind of had her head down. She didn’t make a lot of noise. Not a big fit.”
Fishers’ neighbors were in shock after hearing the news. One woman said “He was a beautiful baby. He was very happy. Oh, my God. I just brought him a stuffed animal the other day. A little bunny with some chocolate, for Easter.”
“I think she just went cuckoo on whoever was up there,” Fisher’s neighbor Carolyn Lawson, 47, expressed. “She needs help. It doesn’t make sense. I think she was on medication for whatever problem she had, but I’m assuming she wasn’t taking her meds.”
A law enforcement officer describes fisher as “soulless” for killing her son in the bathroom. “She put her hand over his mouth and smothered him. She is a lunatic. She is crazy,” the officer later added.
Fisher’s mother, 54-year-old Merial Fisher, who was emotional spoke with reporters about the tragic incident. “It’s hard, it’s really unbelievable. I know my daughter loves her son,” she said. “I don’t know what happened.”
“It’s just so sad. He was such a happy baby. I’m going to miss my sweetheart, miss my boy, I’m going to miss him so much.”
Fisher remains in custody, but charges against her are pending.
