Paula Patton Talks Life Post Robin Thicke Divorce: ‘I’m Becoming An Adult’
Paula Patton has opened up about her life following her recent divorce from Robin Thicke, and she’s admitted that she’s already on the road to recovery.
Patton was talking to Meredith Vieira about her recent divorce during her appearance on The Meredith Vieira Show, which will air on Tuesday.
The 39-year-old explained to Vieira that following her initial separation from the singer in February, 2014, after almost nine years of marriage, she is beginning to feel different.
“You know I’m doing really well,” she explained. “It’s been a long year and a lot of challenges but I’ve grown quite a bit and just getting used to change.”
Robin Thicke and Paula Patton’s divorce is set to be finalized next month, just over a year after the pair, who are the parents to their four-year-old son, Julian, originally separated.
And Patton has confessed that she is now beginning to feel like an adult, especially since she went from living with her parents to moving in with Robin.
“I live in a place of gratitude and growing up in many ways I think,” she declared. “I moved from my parents house to moving in with Robin, and now I’m like becoming an adult at this old age. I’m really like a real woman now.”
Patton and Thicke met when she was just 14-years-old, and they eventually tied the knot in June, 2005. Patton told Vieira that she is trying to embrace her new reality, and “just be thankful for everything” that she has.
Patton also explained, via E! Online, that she has enjoyed taking time off work following her separation to spend time with her son, and she couldn’t help but feel guilty when she did eventually return to her job. In fact, she felt so guilty she even “cried.”
The “Blurred Lines” singer and the Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol actress released a joint statement at the time of their separation, which explained, “We will always love each other and be best friends; however, we have mutually decided to separate at this time.”
Following the announcement, Patton made an appearance on Good Morning America, via the Mirror, where she insisted that even though it had been a challenging year, she was feeling “stronger” because of it.
“I’m doing really well. I mean, the honest truth is it has been challenging, but it’s been a year of growth, lots of healing, learning about all new things, but I’ve come out stronger.”
In response to their separation, Robin Thicke looked to win back the heart and love of his wife by releasing the album entitled Paula. Unfortunately, that album failed to achieve the success he intended, as it was met with mixed reviews and poor sales.
