Joan Rivers Hated Ben Stiller, Actor Finds Out Why On Howard Stern
Ben Stiller has finally found out why Joan Rivers always hated him, and he did so courtesy of Howard Stern.
Stiller was on the infamous presenter’s show to promote his upcoming appearance in While We’re Young, but while he was there, the discussion soon turned to Rivers, who died last year at the age of 81.
Stern immediately sought to get to the bottom of their feud, and he told Stiller, “She thought you didn’t like her.”
This prompted Stiller to respond with, “I never had an interaction with her.”
At this point, Robin Quivers, Stern’s co-host on his radio show, jumped in and explained that Rivers felt as if the Zoolander actor ignored her on the red carpet.
Stern then added, “She was really ticked that you wouldn’t say ‘hello’ to her.”
Rivers felt offended by Stiller’s snub because she was actually close friends with his parents, comedians Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara.
After being informed of this, Stiller added, “This is helping me, because I didn’t understand why she didn’t like me. But she had a thing because she was friends with my parents.”
Then, in response to the accusation that he’d snubbed Rivers on one of the many occasions she was on the red carpet to interview celebrities, Stiller remarked, “I don’t remember that happening but I’m sure it did.”
Stiller then tried to explain why he believed the feud had started between himself and the iconic comedienne by stating, “Then I heard there was a documentary or something, and they said, ‘What do you think of Ben Stiller’ [Rivers reponded], ‘Lucky’… Then, the beef started.”
In the end, Stiller didn’t have a bad word to say about Rivers, and he ended their discussion on the matter by insisting, “She was great,” before confessing, “I feel bad that we never got to work that out.”
Stiller continued, “My parents were really friends with her and spent a lot of time and worked together with her, and she had an amazing career.”
But Stiller was still glad that he’d been able to talk through these issues with Stern and his crew, as he admitted that it had helped him to “heal a little.” He then concluded by sending “good energy to Joan and Joan’s family.”
