LAPD Seizes $100 Million In PCP, Makes Major Arrests
Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) officers made a $100 million bust against a national drug-trafficking organization this week when officers seized nearly $100 million in PCP.
Police claim to have found nearly 10 million individual doses which sell for roughly $10 and $20 each. The drugs were seized at two local storage facilities and several satellite locations. Also recovered during the bust was nearly $400,000 in cash.
The trafficking ring is believed to include 10 individuals who were selling the drugs in Texas, New York and Washington, D.C. along with other yet to be named cities throughout the United States.
Two of the suspected traffickers Darryl Dwayne Burton and Lagina Bell Huckaby were met by LAPD officers at a UPS store in Culver City where they were attempting to ship narcotics. The arrest came after nearly one month of police investigations.
$100 million in PCP in case you were curious is nearly 130 gallons of phencyclidine and police also found enough chemicals to produce up to 500 more gallons of the illegal drug.
If allegations are correct the bust will deal a huge blow tot he Bounty Hunter Bloods, a Los Angeles street gang that Fairfield has been tied to.
While most of the drugs were found in large facilities police also found labs setup in homes and various other locations. Burton and Huckaby have in the meantime plead not guilty and they are being held on $3 million and $2 million bail.
Among his two convictions Burton, 55, has been arrested for PCP possession, Huckaby, 31 has no prior convictions.
