WWE News: Big Backstage Update On Roman Reigns Becoming WWE World Heavyweight Champion
Last night on WWE Raw was one of the most controversial endings to a go-home show before WrestleMania that the WWE Universe has ever witnessed. The main event of WWE Raw was set to be the last wave of defense for the WWE to sell the fans on Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns. WWE fans are still sour that Reigns is in the main event of WrestleMania.
The last several weeks, Paul Heyman has done a brilliant job by doing legendary promos to sell the main event. Backstage pre-taped interviews with Lesnar have also got the job done. However, last night on WWE Raw, not many people enjoyed it. There is said to be a huge-negative reaction to how the main event ended last night.
Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns tugged over the WWE championship, like two jealous kids over the last action figure. At least, that was the metaphor used on social media last night. Along with the ending to WWE Raw, Reigns potentially winning the WWE title is a hot topic backstage. According to Daily Wrestling News, Reigns may not be over to the WWE fans, but he is over with the WWE officials and locker room.
“While one of the hot topics going into this year’s WrestleMania 31 is whether or not #1 contenderRoman Reigns is ready for WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar and the main event, that is not the case backstage as Reigns remains very over with the talent in the locker room.”
“Reigns has been described as a very likeable guy backstage. He’s also seen as eager to learn and easy to teach.”
“More than one WWE veteran has described Reigns as the future of WWE and blamed the heat on WWE creative.”
Reigns deserves more credit than the WWE fans give him. Even though it feels like he was “given” the WWE title match at WrestleMania, Reigns is always seen training and working harder to get better in the ring. As far as the blame on the WWE Creative team, that is very fair. They haven’t given Reigns the best stuff to work with.
When he was with the Shield, Reigns was absolutely over. He was unofficially dubbed the “Silent Assassin.” The gimmick was perfect for Reigns.
He didn’t have to talk, which is his downfall. On top of that, he came in to the ring, kicked everyone’s rear, and left. Sometimes, that’s all it takes to get a wrestler over. Men like Yokozuna had Mr. Fuji to do all of the talking for them. Is WWE considering putting Roman Reigns with Paul Heyman? If the WWE pulls the trigger on that move, Reigns would become the most-over heel in the company.
