Kathy Griffin ‘View’: Is Kathy Joining The Cast Of ‘The View’ After Leaving ‘Fashion Police’?
Kathy Griffin might be going to The View.
According to the New York Daily News, Griffin may be making her way from E!’s Fashion Police to the popular morning talk show on ABC. Apparently some people think that the vivacious red head will be a great fit on the show, and that she will bring a different dynamic to the table — and that could be exactly what the show needs.
“She was great and has Whoopi (Goldberg)’ s backing. Whoopi loves Kathy. The View would be a perfect fit if Kathy wanted to fly to New York weekly. It’s a Monday-through-Thursday job and she can tour on the weekends, the best two nights to sell tickets,” shared an insider. “Her name has been tossed around, yes. She’s opinionated in a smart way and not argumentative for the sake of it.”
Kathy Griffin could join The View as soon as the fall. After abruptly walking away from Fashion Police, E! was left without a leading lady. Griffin was actually hired as Joan Rivers’ replacement, and while some people loved her on the show, others felt that the show would never be the same without Joan. Now that Kelly Osbourne has also left, there is a good chance that E! will cancel the series. They’ve already decided to go on a much longer hiatus than originally planned, and won’t be back any time soon.
According to Entertainment Tonight, Kathy is being eyed to fill Rosie O’Donnell’s place on The View. Rosie announced her departure from the show on Feb. 6. Many think that Kathy is not only a great choice, but the only choice, given the shoes that she needs to fill. While there are plenty of other women that would be great on The View, the producers are looking for someone who has an opinion, and who isn’t afraid to express it.
Kathy Griffin might be a better fit on The View. As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Griffin decided that Fashion Police just wasn’t for her.
“My brand of humor, while unrepentant and unafraid, is all about CONTEXT. There is plenty to make fun of in pop culture without bringing people’s bodies into it,” she said after her Fashion Police departure. “I’m surprised that people are so invested in this show. But I shouldn’t be because Joan [Rivers] was so incredible and amazing, and it just wasn’t the right thing for me.”
