Kayak, Trip Advisor Team Up to Add 60 Million Travel Reviews to Booking Site
Travel booking aggregator Kayak and travel reviews site Trip Advisor have hooked up in a very advantageous partnership for the two services, Kayak announced today.
According to a press release from Kayak- which is, if you didn’t know, a web booking service that scans multiple sites to find the lowest prices for hotels and flights- full integration of Trip Advisor’s database of more than 60 million reviews will be integrated into its service today. The new partnership will first be available to users in the US and UK, and will begin rolling out globally soon after.
Going forward, Kayak users booking hotels can sort by Trip Advisor review, and instantly view rankings for hotels early in the booking process. As many travelers have difficulty incorporating reviews in as they narrow options, adding the ability to scan reviews during the booking process will likely make the entire experience more streamlined for many users.
In the release, Kayak says:
In October, we launched a hotel recommendations filter that enables you to narrow results by expert recommendations. We’ve now updated that feature with TripAdvisor ratings… This new partnership will make finding the right hotel even easier on KAYAK. Not only can you compare from hundreds of hotel sites at once, but you can now use TripAdvisor’s millions of reviews from its global community of travelers. The feature launched today on KAYAK.com in the US and KAYAK.co.uk in Great Britain. We’ll be adding it to our global sites and mobile apps as soon as possible.
While Trip Advisor has similar deals for its content with other booking sites, the Kayak partnership should raise its profile significantly. No financials for the deal were disclosed.
