Maci Bookout Is Preparing To Graduate, Talks ‘Teen Mom’ Apprehension
Maci Bookout has a lot on her plate. In addition to returning to MTV for the fifth season of Teen Mom, Teen Mom OG, Bookout is juggling her college education with her mommy duties with her 6-year-old son, Bentley, and preparing for the birth of her second child.
In a new interview, Maci Bookout opened up about her decision to return to reality TV.
“It had been a very long time since we had been on the show. I wasn’t getting recognized everywhere I went anymore and people didn’t really care. It was very quiet,” Bookout revealed to PEOPLE Magazine on March 23.
“I was definitely apprehensive, but I thought it was really cool and all of us are in such different places in our lives that it would be nice for the fans to see how much we have grown.”
Maci Bookout and the rest of the cast of Teen Mom, including Catelynn Lowell, Tyler Baltierra, Farrah Abraham, Amber Portwood and Gary Shirley, began starring on the series in 2009, after first appearing on MTV’s 16 & Pregnant. Four seasons later, the show came to a close as Portwood entered into a five-year prison term.
After Portwood was granted an early release in November 2013, discussions began about a possible Teen Mom return. In early 2015, news of Teen Mom OG was made official.
Currently, Maci Bookout is taking classes at Chattanooga State College, and working full time as a social media-marketing specialist.
As the Inquisitr reported last week, Maci Bookout and her son’s father, Ryan Edwards, have been getting along better in recent months than they had during filming on Teen Mom OG. In an interview with TV Guide, Bookout explained that the cameras actually make it worse for her and Edwards, as they are forced to deal with each other more than they normally would.
“We don’t argue with each other. I guess we just learned it’s just not worth the energy, and we’ve grown up a little bit.”
Also in her interview with PEOPLE Magazine, Maci Bookout spoke of her and boyfriend Taylor McKinney’s future plans for marriage.
“We definitely want to get married and we’ve talked about it a lot, but we aren’t trying to cram it all in at one time. After the baby comes and we get settled in with parenting two children then that will definitely be our next step.”
