Pittsburgh Steelers Rumors: James Harrison Could Be Returning — If His Kids Say So
The Pittsburgh Steelers are rumored to be getting free agent linebacker James Harrison to return this season — as long as his kids say so.
The 36-year-old free agent is reportedly close to choosing between the Steelers and Tennessee Titans, where his longtime defensive coach Dick LeBeau went this year.
Harrison made it clear that it’s no easy decision.
“The opinions of my support team are split, but for me, my love for the man who both started, and made my career what it is, is undeniable,” Harrison wrote on Instagram. “There are no words that I can find that would do justice for everything Dick LeBeau has done for me & my career and nothing can compare to that!
“I also have a great amount of love for Steelers Nation & the Steelers organization. I’m going to pray on this and let God guide me in the right direction.”
With no clear direction in mind, James Harrison decided to enlist his two young kids to help make the decision. In a video posted to Instagram, Harrison asked the kids if he should follow LeBeau to the Titans or stay with the Steelers.
They weren’t much help.

James Harrison has already returned to the Pittsburgh Steelers once before. Last summer, he announced his retirement, but didn’t stay away long. After the Steelers were ravaged by injuries, Harrison was coaxed back out of retirement and ended up with a strong season, notching 5.5 sacks and 45 tackles in 11 games.
As NFL noted, Harrison might be able to serve a bigger role with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
“The Steelers could use pash-rushing help after being blindsided by the news of Jason Worilds’ retirement last week before getting a chance to re-sign him. Harrison could also alleviate coach Mike Tomlin’s transition of the defense LeBeau no longer oversees by mentoring back-to-back first-round selections in linebackers Ryan Shazier and Jarvis Jones.”
The Pittsburgh Steelers and Tennessee Titans might not have to wait much longer — James Harrison is rumored to be making a decision soon.
