Whitney Houston’s ‘Comeback’ Movie Sparkle Could Release In Theaters Early
Whitney Houston was set to make her big-screen comeback in August as the star of the movie Sparkle a loosely based remake of a 1976 movie that tells the story of singing group The Supremes. Now various sources are claiming that the movie could find its way into theaters as early as Memorial Day.
A source close to the project tells Radar:
Pushing the film up “absolutely isn’t being done to make money” while adding, “The reasoning is that Whitney’s fans will want to see her in this movie, in which she gives a remarkable performance.”
In other Whitney Houston movie news the president of Fox 2000 Pictures revealed this week that a sequel to the singers hit Waiting to Exhale will move forward without Whitney Houston in a starring role. The president at Fox 2000 Pictures says he idea of Oprah Winfrey replacing Houston “isn’t inconceivable.”
Also already in the works is a remake of the singers biggest movie hit The Bodyguard the very same movie that launched the singer into realm of super stardom with her Dolly Parton remake of the song I Will Always Love You.
In other Houston news it’s believed that the singer died nearly penniless after spending most of her $100 million fortune on drugs and “high living” while the New York Daily News points out that her daughter and the rest of her estate are not likely to earn much money off her posthumous music sales since she didn’t write her biggest hits.
Will you be heading out to see Sparkle when it arrives in theaters?
