Kathie Lee Gifford Makes Out With Matt Lauer — Shield Your Eyes!
Today’s Show anchors Kathie Lee Gifford and Matt Lauer locked lips on air Tuesday morning in participation of the newly launched Twizzler Challenge.
Moments before the challenge, Gifford joked.
“Your world is going to be on fire. This is nothing compared to what goes on in the makeup room.”
The two then nibbled the licorice candy until their lips pecked, giving the audience a daytime television experience that they surely won’t forget.

“It’s all for a good cause… I love you (referring to Gifford) anyways. I would have done that for nothing.”
Having accomplished their part in the charitable challenge, Gifford dared Hoda Kotb and Regis Philbin to take the challenge Wednesday morning. On the other hand, Lauer assured that Mad Men stars Jon Hamm and John Slattery will also do the Twizzler Challenge in their upcoming interview, slated for Monday morning.
The Twizzler Challenge was started by Today’s Willie Geist in his appearance two weeks ago at Comedy Central’s 6th Biennial Night of Too Many Stars charity event. It is anticipated to be the next Ice Bucket Challenge, as it aims to raise money and awareness for autism programs. In the Comedy Central episode, Geist was challenged by a follower on Twitter to take the challenge with Orange is the New Black star Uzo Aduba. In return, the challenger agreed to give a monetary donation if the two went through with the dare.
After the two finished the Twizzler, host Carson Daly humorously asked, “Who’s the lady and who’s the tramp?” He was referencing Disney’s classic animated film The Lady and The Tramp, where the two main characters, a male and a female dog, ate the same string of pasta and ended with a kiss.
Geist continued on with the Twizzler Challenge during his guest appearance at the Meredith Vieira Show. Geist and Vieira also shared a piece of licorice candy together and donated $5,000 to the cause. HBO television series Girls co-stars Lena Dunham and Allison Williams also took the Twizzler challenge and uploaded a video of their experience on Instagram.
“Nothing weird here. We are colleagues,” Vieira told the audience.
The Ice Bucket Challenge, to which the Twizzler Challenge is fashioned similarly, went viral with numerous of celebrity endorsements and raised an estimated $220 million worth of donation worldwide for the ALS Association.
