Jennifer Aniston has a strange secret for her famously shiny hair — her own sweat.
In a recent interview, the actress revealed that she makes it a point to skip the shampoo on days between her workouts, letting a bit of her own perspiration soak in to her hair.
“A little sweat in the hair is nice,” Aniston said in an interview with Fashionista . “It’s like a little product. You just blow it out with your fingers and it’s actually just fun.”
Jennifer Aniston isn’t just being lazy by taking a break from washing her hair. She explained that she’s done research on the effects shampoo has on hair and decided that less is more.
“Silicone is a culprit in most shampoos,” she said. “Over time, it builds up and turns into a hard coating and it cracks and breaks and snaps your hair. [People were] always saying, ‘Don’t wash your hair every day!’ but it was impossible — because of all the oils and silicone — it would create this greaseball head of hair within a day. The Living Proof scientists over there at MIT found a molecule to replace the silicone. Therefore, your hair is lighter and cleaner for days. I’d say I go every two to three days easily without washing my hair.”
Though Aniston may have an unconventional approach to keeping her hair looking its best, she isn’t ready to go crazy with the hair colors. When asked if she might be willing to try going platinum blonde or another “crazy color,” Jen backed away.
“I’m not a trend person really,” she said. “I kind of wait for the trends to go. Platinum blond — unless it was a wig — no.”
Jen also explained her decision to wear her hair down at the Oscars this year, even when most stars had theirs up.
“I just wanted to be comfortable that day,” she said. “The [Versace] dress just fit like a glove and I felt so comfortable. I don’t like [to wear] my hair up very much. I’m not an up-do kind of gal. I feel like if you’re wearing a gown with glitter, you want to have beachy, natural hair to kind of go against that. So that’s sort of my main thing, being me. Being comfortable.”
Aniston’s style choices have come under some scrutiny , however. Last year she stepped in a dress that made it look ever so slightly like she could be pregnant, promoting In Touch Weekly to demand that the actress fire her stylist.

Jennifer Aniston apparently has some disagreements with her longtime hairstylist, Chris McMillan. Though Jen is perfectly willing to use her own sweat as a hair care product, she said she resists McMillan’s suggestions to cut off all her hair “like a pixie.”
