Bentley is returning to American Horror Story after a brief stint on the fourth season, American Horror Story: Freak Show. On the fourth season, the actor played the villain Edward Mordrake.
It’s not known what role Wes Bentley will have in the new season, but Murphy revealed other cast members that he would join. The first cast member that was announced was none other than Lady Gaga. Instead of the announcement taking place at PaleyFest, Gaga took to Twitter to promote the upcoming season. In a single tweet she confirmed her role and revealed the name of the upcoming season, which is American Horror Story: Hotel.
Actor Matt Bomer, who had a short stint on American Horror Story’s last season, joined Murphy at PaleyFest to announce that he would co-star with Lady Gaga.
“I love collaborating with Ryan Murphy,” said Bomer. The White Collar actor described stepping foot in New Orleans for the fourth season as, “amazing — when you showed up on set it was like arriving at this community and it felt like this world where there was no boundaries. I had the time of my life and I told Ryan that, He said, ‘Great, do you want to come work next season? And I said, ‘H***, yes.’ ”
Bomer was also joined by actor Cheyenne Jackson, who will also be on the upcoming season. Both actors have collaborated with Murphy on the Fox show Glee. Bomer also guest starred on the ill-fated show The New Normal, and won a Golden Globe for his role in Murphy’s HBO film, The Normal Heart.
One cast member that won’t be joining Bomer, Bentley, or Jackson is the show’s main presence, Jessica Lange. The actress announced at PaleyFest that she wouldn’t be returning to the show.
“Yes, I’m done. We’ve had a great run here. I absolutely love doing these four characters, and in all madness, I love the writers, and Ryan, and the insanity of shooting it.”
