Micheal Neeson Mom: 19-Year-Old Opens Up About Losing Mom Natasha Richardson, Going To Rehab
Micheal Neeson talked about losing his mom, and opened up about how he handled her tragic passing. According to AOL News, the now 19-year-old son of Natasha Richardson and Liam Neeson has spoken out for the first time about his mom’s death.
“I was going out, partying a lot, looking for self-gratification. I wanted to be the man, doing these drugs […] Everybody said, ‘This kid has lost his mum, that’s where the problem comes from’. And I was like, ‘No, it isn’t, I just like to party,'” Michael explained. Neeson said that he hit “rock bottom” last year, and checked himself into rehab to get help.
Michael Neeson lost his mom when he was just 13-years-old. Wednesday marks six years that Richardson has been gone. She died after a ski accident in Quebec. She fell down a slope while taking some beginner lessons. Not wearing a helmet, Richardson tore a blood vessel in her brain.
According to Mail Online, Michael has turned his life around, and seems to be in a much better place today. He credits his dad, and his brother Daniel, 18, for helping him right himself. Now he is curating a fashion gallery in London. His dad, Liam, has been instrumental in raising his kids, and has such an amazing love for his late wife. Last year, Liam sat down with Anderson Cooper to talk about what he went through after the accident, and how he has handled it over the years.
“She was on life support… I went in to her and I told her I loved her, said ‘Sweetie, you’re not coming back from this, you’ve banged your head.’ She and I had made a pact, if any of us got into a vegetative state that we’d pull the plug. That was my immediate thought, ‘Okay, these tubes have to go. She’s gone.’ [Her death] was never real. It still kind of isn’t. There’s periods now in our New York residence when I hear the door opening, especially the first couple of years… anytime I hear that door opening, I still think I’m going to hear her,” Liam Neeson told Anderson Cooper on 60 Minutes.
As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Liam is still acting, and still doing action films — and at age 64, he has still got it. As far as moving on romantically, Liam dated Freya St. Johnston in 2010 for a couple of years, but no one can blame the guy for not getting seriously invested in someone else. The love he has for his wife is undeniable, and it doesn’t matter if she’s here or she’s not. That’s true love.
