Ted Cruz did some pretty quick thinking on his feet on Sunday during a stump speech in Barrington, New Hampshire, when Cruz began using fiery metaphors while criticizing Obamacare — rhetoric that caught the ear of a 3-year-old girl and made her look away from her game on her mother’s phone, taking the talk a little too literally.
One of the great blessings of traveling around the United States and representing the great state of Texas, said the 44-year-old Rafael Edward Cruz — better known by his nickname “Ted” — is that the Republican senator gets to see what’s happening in the world. The Obama economy is a disaster, Cruz told the small and intimate crowd in the bright room. Next, the 2012-elected Cruz — who earns the distinction of being the first Latino to serve as a United States senator from Texas — called Obamacare a train wreck as a few folks in the room made noises of agreement.
That’s when Senator Ted began speaking about the Obama administration’s worldwide leadership and seemed to hesitate and search for words before launching into heated metaphors.
“The foreign policy leads from behind… the whole world’s on fire.”
That overheated language caught the attention of 3-year-old Julie Trant, as reported by the Concord Monitor , who had to confirm what Cruz just said by asking him about the world being on fire.
“The world’s on fire?”
Laughter abounded as Cruz addressed Julie directly.
“The world’s on fire. Yes. Your world’s on fire. But you know what? Your mommy’s here and everyone’s here to make sure that the world you grow up in is even better.”
As a result, YouTube videos like the above, titled “Ted Cruz Terrifies 3-Year-Old: ‘Your World is on Fire’,” are going viral.
Cruz said that in 2017 , a GOP president will repeal every single word of Obamacare, according to the Washington Times ?, with predictions that a Republican president would reverse everything President Obama has done for healthcare. However, it’s Cruz’s talk with the 3-year-old girl that has most folks chuckling, reports ABC News ?, about the cuteness of the incident and the calm manner in which Ted explained his words. According to her mother, Julie wasn’t upset and didn’t cry upon hearing that the world was on fire, but now looks at the senator as some sort of fireman hero.
As reported by the Inquisitr , Senator Cruz hasn’t announced his official run for the presidency, but Ted is certainly acting presidential.
