Wilmer Valderrama Toasts Demi Lovato’s Sobriety
Wilmer Valderrama shared his pride in Demi Lovato’s accomplishment in staying sober for three years today, toasting her on his social media accounts. He posted a brief message, expressing his pride and his awe of Demi’s strength. The sweet, supportive message is gaining a lot of attention and bringing awareness to how hard addiction is, even after years sober. Meanwhile, Lovato’s own silence may speak volumes about just how hard it is.
Demi Lovato had a medical emergency last month, resulting in her being rushed to the hospital with flu-like symptoms and breathing difficulties. Though reports all included Lovato’s illness, the knowledge of her long struggle with addiction left some wondering whether the hospitalization might actually be due to substance abuse.
However, Valderrama’s message today confirms that the young singer has been sober for three years, and that she’s continuing to win the daily battle.
On Instagram, Valderrama posted the following image and message, tagging Demi in the photo.
“Today, we lay another stone together..
It is now 3 years since you said:
I am more important then any past, demon, disorder or addiction.. Where you decided that YOUR life was worth living while loving yourself.. And I’m sure glad you did… I knew then the woman you’ve become now.. I am proud and honor to be front row to see the world you are about to change.”
While Valderrama credits Lovato for all her hard work and dedication in overcoming her addictions, Lovato herself tweeted last month, giving credit to God. She’s also given credit to strong female role models, including Beyoncé, the Kardashians, Iggy Azalea, and Jennifer Lopez for their strength, and says she had looked to them as she has struggled not only with alcohol, but with body image issues.
3 years sober next month… Hell yeah!!! God is so good. My best friend created the universe and still takes time to love me. #soblessed

She did not, however, tweet or post today about her sobriety anniversary.
She and Wilmer are reportedly looking forward to getting engaged soon, and to a long relationship together. After three years sticking together through the many difficulties an alcohol addiction brings, the pair has already shown more longevity in their relationship than many Hollywood couples ever see.
Though the road through addiction is a well-traveled one in Hollywood, and former child stars seem to be especially susceptible, it’s clear that Demi Lovato is on the right track, and that Wilmer Valderrama is standing by with support.
