Bristol Palin Engaged To War Hero Dakota Meyer, And Their Love Story Beats ‘The Bachelor’ For Romance [Photos]
Bristol Palin can’t stop beaming over her announcement that she’s now engaged to a war hero. Daughter of Sarah Palin, the 24-year-old posted the news about her fiancee, Sgt. Dakota Meyer, on Saturday, reported the New York Daily News.
Meyer is a United States Marine veteran, who received the Medal of Honor in 2011 for his dedicated duty in Afghanistan, including saving the lives of other Marines. That makes him the third living recipient of the highest honor since Vietnam.
The 26-year-old war hero chimed in with Bristol on social media to share their delight in their love, which they sealed with a kiss.
“Truly the luckiest girl in the world, cannot wait to marry this man!!!!” exclaimed Bristol in her post.
Palin also shared a photo of her bling ring.
“I’m definitely the luckiest guy ever to be able to spend the rest of my life with (Bristol),” chimed in Dakota.
And Meyer’s hashtag, #shesaidyes, expressed his jubilation.
At 24, Bristol has a son, Tripp, who is 6-years-old. However, his father, Levi Johnston, broke up with her before they were married. Dakota has never been married and does not have children.
War hero Dakota shared his feelings on Facebook.
“I always heard people say ‘when you meet the right one, you’ll know.’ I never understood that until now,” he wrote.
And Bristol’s 26-year-old fiance was honest about his struggles after he returned from Afghanistan.
“Coming back from Afghanistan there were days I thought I may never be happy again, and I know there’s a lot of you out there who know that feeling. We only have one life to live and we have to do our best to live it the right way, and Bristol makes me a better man.”
As for the future, Dakota has only positive dreams to share, including his soon-to-be stepson.
“I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with her and Tripp. For the first time in a long time I can honestly say the best is yet to come! Thanks to everyone for your words of kindness and support. It means a ton to us.”
So how does politician-mom Sarah Palin feel about all this? Palin is thrilled to share her daughter’s happiness, reported People.
The 51-year-old proud mom posted her joy on Facebook.
“Our families couldn’t be happier for Bristol and Dakota! We’re honored to welcome Dakota into our family. He’s an American hero and patriot whose service to our country – like all his fellow Medal of Honor recipients – has been above and beyond the call of duty.”
And Sarah emphasized that Dakota truly loves her daughter and grandson.
“He’s a good and kind man who loves Bristol and Tripp, and is loved by them.”
When more grandchildren arrive, however, Sarah may want to take a hint from Chelsea Clinton. As the Inquisitr reported, Chelsea candidly revealed that her own politician-mom Hillary has become bossy about the new baby.
“Er, she definitely gives me advice, some of it I take and some of it I sort-of smile and say ‘thank you’ for,” Chelsea confessed.
