Maci Bookout Talks Farrah Abraham Frustration, Possible ‘Teen Mom OG’ Departure
Farrah Abraham’s return to Teen Mom OG and Maci Bookout’s potential departure are two of the biggest Teen Mom stories this month. The original cast did not expect the controversial reality show star to return to the hit MTV show after she ventured out on a different career path and, if Farrah’s previews are any indication, she didn’t plan a return to the show, either.
Speaking to Us Weekly back in January, the creator of the show, Lauren Dolgen, explained why Farrah Abraham was being brought back to the show. She explained that, despite having the three original cast members, something was missing without that fourth story, which happened to be Farrah’s.
At the time, Dolgen admitted that there was some controversy among the original cast members when they were made aware that the reality show star turned adult film star would be returning to the show. In fact, there was so much tension that Maci Bookout even threatened to quit filming. The pregnant reality show star did not want her six-year-old son on a show that features an adult film star, and rumors began to swirl that Maci pulled the plug on filming.
Recently, Wetpaint did an interview with Maci and asked an important question. A video on their site starts and shows that the question asked was, “You almost stopped filming when Farrah came back. Have your feelings changed?”
Obviously, this is the question on Teen Mom OG fans’ minds. Maci Bookout didn’t give a definitive “yes” or “no” answer as to whether or not she is, indeed, leaving the show. As previously reported by the Inquisitr, the rumors began swirling back in February. However, she did explain to the site her feelings about Farrah Abraham’s return and she admits that it “frustrates” her.
“I’m still frustrated by it and it doesn’t have anything to do with Farrah personally. I don’t have any hard feelings towards her, I don’t judge her or anything like that.”
This is what Maci originally said in initial interviews about Farrah’s return. So, if she doesn’t have any hard feelings towards her, why did she consider leaving the show that made her famous? Maci went on to explain that there is a “fine line in what’s appropriate for children to be around.” She voices her concern about her son being shown in a segment and the next segment potentially showing talk about adult toys and tapes, two things that Farrah Abraham is involved with. As a parent, it is Maci’s job to protect her kids and she admits that in the interview.
Maci Bookout continued to explain that she doesn’t have an issue with Farrah personally.
“My best friend could be a stripper as long as she treats me and my family right, I mean, she’s still going to be my best friend, but that also doesn’t mean I am going to have my six-year-old son involved with her career.”
At the end of the day, it is hard to say what Maci is going to do regarding her position on Teen Mom OG. Obviously, no fan wants to see her quit the show and her costars likely want her to stick around as well. Audiences have grown up knowing Maci and her family and it would be a shame to see her decide to stop filming.
Maci closed the interview by admitted that the situation she is in is “sh*tty.”
“I’m not gonna alter my parenting or change what I think is right for my family just because I am scared of hurting someone’s feelings. And it’s a sh*tty situation, but it’s the situation that I am in.”
Teen Mom OG returns to MTV on March 23 and Maci Bookout will return with it for the first season. Her pregnancy and co-parenting issues with her ex, Ryan Edwards, will be discussed during her segments.
