A 7-Year-Old Saints Fan Cries Over Jimmy Graham Trade In Viral Clip [Video]
Seven-year-old Lexia Woods was not happy to hear that New Orleans Saints tight end Jimmy Graham was headed to the Seattle Seahawks.
Lexia, who was filmed by her mother Ashley-Ann Woods, tearfully declared that wherever Jimmy Graham went, she too would follow.
“Wherever [Jimmy] Graham goes, that’s where I go… No matter WHAT team.”
When questioned by her mom, Lexia revealed that she understood that Graham was going to the Seahawks. Tearing up, the little girl conveyed strong feelings about the surprising decision by the New Orleans Saints.
“It’s just not smart of them to let [Jimmy] Graham over there!”
When asked by her mom why the Saints were making such a big mistake, Lexia Woods burst into tears, unable to finish her thought. She could only that Graham “is a good player” and that she wanted him to stay with the Saints. If she had anything to say to Jimmy, it would be that “he shouldn’t go to Seattle.”
The video was posted to YouTube on Tuesday as well as uploaded to the mom’s Facebook page. The video has since gone viral. According to ESPN, Lexia was born in New Orleans and is a Saints fan through and through. Since she’s a part of a military family, she’s moved around the country a bit. As of now, the Woods are stationed in Charleston, South Carolina. Lexia’s father, Jonathan, is currently serving in Afghanistan.
Ashley-Ann shared just why she and daughter Lexia love Graham so much.
“We fell in love with New Orleans the four years we were there. [W]e love all the support that Jimmy Graham gives to military members and their families. Lexia really just wanted three people to see this: her teacher, Ellen DeGeneres, and Jimmy.”
Fortunately for the loyal little Saints fan, her favorite football player became aware of the viral video. Ashley-Ann Woods shared that Jimmy sent her a message. “[Graham] was very touched and has reached out and extended the invitation for Lex to come see him at his first home game in Seattle.”
If it’s any consolation to Lexia Woods, she wasn’t the only member of the Saints family to take the news of Jimmy Graham leaving rather hard. Quarterback Drew Brees responded to the news of the trade with apparent surprise.
“I’m as shocked as everyone else. I love the guy.”
Once Drew had a chance to get over his shock at Jimmy Graham heading to Seattle, he tweeted out a cute picture of his seven-year-old son wearing a Graham jersey.
