‘The Mindy Project’ Spoilers: Mindy’s Parents and Danny, Plus Stephen Colbert Guest Starring
Are you ready to meet Mindy’s parents on The Mindy Project? How will they react to their daughter’s pregnancy? How will she tell them? Will Danny meet them? Plus, who is Stephen Colbert playing, and which How I Met Your Mother actress will be guest starring in an upcoming episode?
While Danny’s family already knows that Mindy’s pregnant, a recent Mindy Project episode saw her determined to keep her pregnancy a secret from her parents. The news first came out when she flew to New York to tell Danny about the pregnancy, only for that to coincide with Danny’s father and sister being in town. Annette was the first Castellano to figure out what was going on and was the one to actually tell Danny the news.
The following episode, back in San Francisco, Mindy found out her brother was dealing drugs, but she agreed not to tell their parents if he didn’t tell them about her pregnancy. But how long can that last? Well, it seems like it won’t last very long since TVGuide.com has reported that Mindy is going to try to arrange a meeting between her parents and Danny, only he doesn’t show up.
To make matters worse, her doctor, played by guest star Laura Dern, diagnoses her with preeclampsia (high blood pressure), meaning this is exactly the kind of situation she should avoid. Will Peter be able to help her figure out what she should do?
In other Mindy Project news, Stephen Colbert is guest starring in this week’s episode, “Confessions of a Catho-holic,” which will see Danny searching for a new priest when his dies after a confession. Colbert plays a potential new priest for Danny, Father Michael O’Donnell, and TVLine has posted photos of Colbert’s character with Mindy and Danny. You can see him with them in a church, as well as sitting down for dinner. How is that dinner going to go?
Mindy Kaling has also posted a deleted scene from the episode on Instagram, along with a caption to explain why it’s not part of the final cut.

Finally, Entertainment Weekly has reported that HIMYM‘s Cristin Milioti will be appearing in the March 17 episode (also featuring guest stars Laverne Cox and Julia Stiles) as “Whitney, a single, high-strung, tough financial broad who interacts with Dr. Jeremy,” and they posted a photo of her with Ed Weeks.
