Calista Flockhart And Harrison Ford: Marriage Strong After His Third Plane Crash

Calista Flockhart and Harrison Ford have survived his three plane accidents and the much-talked-about age difference. With the recent incident in which the actor crashed his vintage World War II plane on a golf course Thursday, she is reportedly asking him to stop flying.

Their love story is an unusual one, and at the time fans learned they were an item, much was made of the big gap in age between the two. She is 50 and he is 72, but the marriage remains strong, despite a couple of recent scares for Harrison.

While filming the upcoming J.J. Abrams sequel Star Wars: The Force Awakens in London, Harrison Ford had an accident when one of the hydraulic doors of the legendary spacecraft, the Millennium Falcon, fell on his leg. He required surgery to repair the injury, and Calista Flockhart rushed to be by his side from the U.S.

Now, while she was a lot closer to him and was able to reach Harrison Ford’s bedside almost immediately following the news of his accident, it is no less comforting. Considering he’s had three close calls while flying, she is reportedly ready for him to stop this dangerous hobby.

Calista knows Ford is a good pilot, which he proved when he avoided crashing into nearby homes on Thursday afternoon. But the fear of losing him is more powerful and, as reported by the Inquisitr, she has asked him to stay grounded.

Calista Flockhart and Harrison Ford met at the 2002 Golden Globes and married in 2010, after dating for eight years. Showing that despite his tough-guy image, he is a romantic, he proposed to her on Valentine’s Day of 2009, when he was 67 and she was 45.

Neither of them see the problem with their age difference. Calista Flockhart and Harrison Ford are both in agreement that their marriage is unaffected by how old they are.

“It doesn’t faze me,” Flockhart said. “Sometimes I even say, ‘Wow, I keep forgetting that he’s [22] years older than me.’ It doesn’t factor into our relationship at all.”

Harrison Ford has made it no secret how he feels about Calista Flockhart and what a blessing it has been to have her at this stage in his life.

“Romantic love is one of the most exciting and fulfilling kinds of love, and I think there’s a potential for it at any stage of your life,” Harrison told People in 2003 of his relationship with Calista Flockhart. “I was not surprised that I was able to fall in love, and I wasn’t surprised that I did. But I’m very grateful.”
