James Gunn Puts ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy 2’ Rumors To Rest
Guardians of the Galaxy star Chris Pratt was visiting a Seattle children’s hospital with Chris Evans (dressed as Captain America), while the man who directed him as Star-Lord in the film laid to rest some rumors that had popped up on the internet over the past several weeks. Fans are more than a little interested in what the director has in mind for the Guardians of the Galaxy sequel that will be released in 2017.
After a speculation post on ComicBook about Captain Marvel/Carol Danvers’ possible involvement in the Guardians sequel, Gunn had to take to his Twitter to quell the increasing curiosity in the possibilities of her involvement.
“@DrunkenShots: Still wondering if Captain Marvel will appear in #GoTG2" Getting this a lot this morning. As I said months ago, no, sorry.

The questions and speculation had been brought on by Gunn tweeting earlier that he was eager to bring one of his favorite comic characters to life in the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy sequel, but didn’t elaborate on which character. He seemed surprised the next day when many sites reporting on this had chosen male superheroes as his favorite character, and he expressed this surprise on his Twitter account.
“Two dozen articles this morning on who my favorite superhero might be and all of them seem to assume it’s a male. What’s up with that?”
This fueled the Captain Marvel debate that he shut down, but even then, some fans speculated that the director could be lying. Gunn wouldn’t want to release any pertinent information about a movie that isn’t even in pre-production yet, but the director set the story straight saying that he has “never lied about anything to the fans, ever.”
The rumors, however, didn’t stop there, with fans speculating that maybe Star-Lord and his rag-tag team of misfits might encounter a Planet of the Symbiotes, based on the story arc that writer Brian Michael Bendis introduced in the Guardians of the Galaxy comics last November, which has seen great success in the comic book market.
“@Ali_Akhtar_: what about the symbiote rumours?" There are no rumors. Just guesses, which are fun. Only 6 of us know who's in GotG2.

The success of Guardians of the Galaxy, a film that some weren’t sure was going to work, gave Marvel the push it needed to become one of the biggest franchises of all time. The rumors of what fans might see in Guardians of the Galaxy 2 will continue until the director releases plot information and characters over time. He has revealed that he began writing the second script in July of 2014, but while many fans need to know what’s coming up, even more prefer to let the director work his magic and surprise everyone when the first trailer becomes available.
