Mariah Carey Sparkles In NYC While Greeting Fans

Her best days may be behind her (in terms of sales), but Mariah Carey stunned her fans yesterday when greeting them in New York City. According to the Daily Mail, Ms. Carey stepped out alone wearing an incredibly expensive ruby and diamond necklace. It was a pure diva look, but Mariah was not too much of diva to greet her adoring fans.

It’s good that Mariah is stepping out and trying to keep her mind off her much public divorce with Nick Cannon, who spoke to Extra about their kids yesterday and said they are doing very well.

“I’m having a lot of fun. I got a cool situation where my house, they have their own rooms, they’re picking out their stuff…they have all this individuality and they have their own space. My daughter wants to go to her room and read books by herself. It’s like, okay, that’s impressive. I’ll let you have some quiet time.”

Publicly, Nick Cannon seems to be moving on from the divorce. According to ContactMusic, Mariah is suffering. They quote an anonymous source claiming Mariah Carey is very jealous of Nick’s new love.

”Mariah thinks he’s just rubbing Nicole in her face. She’d heard through the grapevine that Nick was seeing her, but Mariah thought it was low for him to parade her around on Valentine’s Day. Part of Mariah still loves Nick. She keeps tabs on him and just can’t seem to let go.”

Meanwhile, Mariah is still facing some backlash over her performance in Jamaica. ET reported that Ms. Carey embarrassed herself at the Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival by lip-syncing to “Fantasy” and “Always Be My Baby.” She failed to move her lips correctly to the words and looked sort of drunk. But Mariah did sing other songs live and did a very good job – unfortunately, the media didn’t report on that. This comes right after Mariah Carey gave an embarrassing performance of “All I Want For Christmas Is You” during an NBC special right before Christmas.

Mariah Carey is set to put all the bad PR behind when she kicks off a residency in Las Vegas. Insiders say that she is practicing with a vocal coach and not taking “The Voice” for granted this time. It’s a perfect time for Mariah Carey to spit back in the face of all her haters who desperately want to see her fail. Mariah Carey’s Las Vegas residency begins on May 6.
