Elisha Cuthbert At Center Of Twitter Fueled Sex Scandal
Elisha Cuthbert wants an apology from Canadian television station TSN after a report it aired claimed the actress was cheating on her husband. Elisha Cuthbert is married to NHL player Dion Phaneuf, but TSN aired a tweet it apparently found funny that said Elisha Cuthbert was “tangoing between the sheets” with her husband’s teammate, Joffrey Lupul. The tweet the network aired was quickly announced to be 100 percent false and Lupol took to the social media network himself to berate TSN as being a “poor man’s TMZ.”
Since the flap first made the rounds on the Internet, TSN has apologized for fueling the supposed sex scandal. For her part, it appears that Elisha Cuthbert is taking the issue in stride, according to the New York Post. According to the Post, Elisha Cuthbert has basically risen above what could have been a bit of a scandal and hasn’t actually commented on the issue. The actress did retweet something another member of the media said on Twitter that seemed to be slyly referencing the flap.
Dion Phaneuf just came up to us at the hotel and asked “what are you guys up to today?” with a smile.

The problem for Elisha Cuthbert is that she can’t seem to stay out of the crosshairs of this kind of weird whisper campaign. The blonde beauty has been known as something of an NHL wag, having previously dated NHLer Sean Avery. After their relationship ended, Avery went very public with his distaste over the breakup when he claimed, “it’s become like a common thing in the NHL for guys to fall in love with my (former girlfriends). I don’t know what that’s about.”
Dealing with angry exes is sadly something that people have to put up with from time to time. Having Canada’s biggest sports network include a tweet about having an affair with her husband’s teammate is probably not something Elisha Cuthbert expected to have to deal with. TSN’s insinuating error was done by including the tweet in a social media crawl at the bottom of the screen.
While this kind of crawl is likely on a kind of autopilot, it’s up to the network to not allow something that salacious to make its way onto the screen. Elisha Cuthbert probably thinks she shouldn’t have to deal with this kind of thing when it comes to her from TSN. At least Elisha Cuthbert seems to have emerged without anyone believing there was anything to this rumor.
