‘Hello Kitty’ Rapist To Go On Trial For 3 Out Of 4 Alleged Attacks
A Hello Kitty rapist will go on trial for only three of the alleged four attacks, which occurred in 2010, 2012, and 2014. Edgar Collazo, the suspected serial rapist, did not attend his pretrial hearing in Orange County court on Tuesday, according to WESH Orlando. Collazo was nicknamed the Hello Kitty rapist because of a tattoo he has of the popular cartoon character. His next trial is set for April 20.
Orange County authorities says that Collazo is accused of raping a woman at the Bellagio Apartments in 2010. The victim reportedly returned from her tour of duty in Afghanistan, when Collazo allegedly raped her, according to investigators.
Collazo was also accused of an attempted rape that happened at the IHOP restaurant near downtown Orlando back in May, according to detectives. DNA evidence has also linked Collazo to the rape of a college student in east Orange County back in 2012.
The Hello Kitty rapist has also been accused of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl in that same year, but that case has closed, according to court documents. He was reportedly accused of assaulting the girl at the same Bellagio Apartments where he allegedly raped a woman.
Collazo has also several charges against him, including armed burglary, false imprisonment, and sexual battery with a deadly weapon or physical force, according to another WESH News report. The accused rapist is already serving time in jail for the three attacks involving the sex crimes.
Even though Collazo is spending time in jail, Orlando residents still feel uneasy about living in the same area. Jimmy Torres spoke to WESH News about his thoughts on the alleged rapist. He thinks more needs to be done about these reported sex crimes.
“This is not a regular person. If you attack 13-year-old girls, you’re sick and you need treatment.”
Keisha Graves, who lives at the Bellagio Apartments, has every right to feel concerned. Collazo reportedly broke inside the victim’s apartment complex, according to investigators. Grave told WFTV that she couldn’t believe that the attack happened in her neighborhood.
“Even if you survive, you never really survive because you never get over that. It’s sad this was even going on in this neighborhood.”
Documents show that the Hello Kitty rapist could serve life behind bars for his latest sexual attack.
In somewhat similar news, there’s a Hello Kitty drug store rubber still at large in Mansfield, Ohio. A robber carrying a Hello Kitty bag robbed a local pharmacy at gunpoint on Saturday, according to the Mansfield News Journal. Police said that the robber is still at large, and they’re asking for more information.
No cash was stolen and no one was injured during the Hello Kitty robbery.
