Are Matthew Baier & Amber Portwood Planning For Children?
Matthew Baier and Amber Portwood got engaged during filming on Teen Mom OG, but is the reality couple already planning for a family of their own?
On March 3, Matthew Baier’s fiancée spoke to OK! Magazine in a video interview, claiming they haven’t yet discussed the possibility of starting a family.
“No, it’s a little too early for that. I just got engaged and I just want to live a normal life for a little bit. I’m engaged and I just want to do things right and in the future, have a baby.”
Portwood and Matthew Baier began dating sometime last year, but opted to keep their relationship, and Matthew Baier’s identity, a secret, up until a few months ago when press finally discovered who the Teen Mom’s mystery man was.
As the Inquisitr previously reported, Matthew Baier’s fiancée spoke out earlier this week, confirming news of her engagement, and dishing on wedding plans.
In an interview with E! News on March 2, Portwood revealed the following of her and Matthew Baier’s plans.
“We know it’s gonna be within the year. We just moved in together a couple months ago, so we really want to learn everything about each other and live this life right now and just make sure everything’s straight before we jump the gun on something.”
Also in her interview, Portwood confirmed her new fiancé, Matthew Baier, gets along great with her daughter, Leah Shirley.
“Boo Boo loves him. They have this natural connection. How? I have no clue. But it’s just amazing to me because I was really scared that, ‘What if Boo Boo doesn’t like him?'”
On Teen Mom, Portwood was seen dating Leah’s father, Gary Shirley. For years, the pair attempted to have a relationship with one another, and even became engaged, but ultimately parted ways after a heated on-camera fight.
After filming on Teen Mom Season 4, Matthew Baier’s fiancée voluntarily violated the probation she was placed on because of the fight, and entered into a five-year prison term in June, 2012. In November, 2013, Portwood was granted an early release, and returned home to Shirley and her daughter.
Prior to entering prison, Portwood signed her parental rights over to Shirley, and he remains Leah’s primary guardian.
