The World’s Most Desirable Woman? Sofia Vergara

Sofia Vergara is the most desirable woman in the world. The “Modern Family” actress, who turns 40 in July, is the oldest actress to win the honor since AskMen.com started the poll in 2000.

AskMen.com polled more than a million readers to choose the women on its Top 99 list. The National Post reports that this year’s list includes more women over the age of 30 than it does women under the age of 25. Demi Moore, who is approaching 50, is the oldest woman on the list.

James Bassil, editor-in-chief of the Montreal-based website, said:

“I think it has a lot to do with the broadening profile of Internet users, who are varying more and more in both age and background. I also think a lot of guys are surprised to hear (Sofia Vegara’s almost) 40, because she doesn’t look it.”

Vergara said:

“I am so honored to be AskMen’s most desired woman this year. A big thank you to all the men who desire me.”

Bassil notes that some big names didn’t make the list this year. Jennifer Aniston and Angelina Jolie are just two of the names that didn’t make the list this year.

Bassil said:

“Some big Old Guard names have disappeared. Last year, we saw representatives from both factions side by side, whereas this year, we’re very much moving toward the new generation. These are the women we’ll keep seeing on the list for years to come.”
